DAN GOLDMAN, DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE FOR CONGRESS IN NY-10, ENDORSED BY ASSEMBLYMEMBER JO ANNE SIMON
New York, NY - Dan Goldman, Democratic nominee for Congress in NY-10, was today endorsed by Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon. Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon is the representative for the 52nd District in Brooklyn, serving portions of Brooklyn Heights, Downtown Brooklyn, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Gowanus, Park Slope, Boerum Hill and DUMBO.
“We all want the best for our city and our country, and we have the chance to support a champion for democracy,” Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon said. “I’m proud to endorse Dan Goldman for Congress, who will be a bulwark against Trump and the far right’s efforts to thwart our civil liberties. I also look forward to working in partnership with him on a myriad of complex issues that affect this district, from transit infrastructure to climate change to affordable housing.”

About Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon
Assemblymember Simon has been a progressive leader in the New York State legislature — where she passed historic legislation on gun violence prevention, education, gender equity, and campaign finance reform. She has championed free school meals for all children regardless of their families’ ability to pay. Jo Anne helped secure equal pay for equal work, election reforms and voting rights, paid family leave, New York’s Green New Deal, and sexual harassment protections. She chairs the Assembly Committee on Ethics and Guidance.
Jo Anne grew up in a working-class neighborhood and was the first in her family to go to college. She earned a Master’s Degree in Education of the Deaf from Gallaudet University and she earned her law degree at Fordham University School of Law – which she attended at night while working full-time. Inspired by her previous work teaching deaf students, she started her own disability civil rights law firm in Downtown Brooklyn. She spent three decades protecting people with disabilities from discrimination and injustice in employment, higher education and high stakes standardized testing. She even had the honor of litigating a landmark disability rights case that eventually went to the Supreme Court.
Jo Anne has made her home in Brooklyn for over 40 years. Jo Anne and her husband, Bill Harris, live in Boerum Hill. She has two step-sons and two grandchildren.
About Dan Goldman
Dan Goldman and his wife, Corinne, live in lower Manhattan where they are raising their five children. In 2019, Dan Goldman served as lead counsel for the impeachment investigation of President Donald J. Trump for abusing his office for his personal interest regarding Ukraine. In that role, Goldman led depositions and questioned witnesses in public hearings, and testified before the House Judiciary Committee.
Prior to that, Goldman served for a decade as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York working with Preet Bharara. In that role, he held powerful actors accountable and made our city safer. He took on some of the office’s biggest and most consequential cases: prosecuting violent criminals and gun trafficking, mafia bosses and Russian organized crime, and landmark insider trading and major corporate fraud cases. In law school, Goldman contributed to Michelle Alexander’s seminal book, The New Jim Crow, which addressed the inequalities in our criminal justice system.
