CONGRESSMAN-ELECT DAN GOLDMAN ANNOUNCES INCOMING DISTRICT OFFICE SENIOR STAFF

New York, NY - Congressman-elect Dan Goldman (NY-10) today announced his incoming Chief of Staff, as well as the hiring of three other senior staffers to lead his District Office. Haley Scott will be taking a leave of absence from BerlinRosen to head up Rep-Elect Goldman’s office as Chief of Staff. She will be based in both DC and New York. John Blasco will serve as District Director, Tevin Williams as Director of Community and External Affairs, and Simone Kanter as Press Secretary. Scott, Blasco, Williams, and Kanter will join Goldman’s official office when he is sworn in on January 3, 2023.

“I am deeply committed to providing the constituents of NY-10 with a top-notch district office, and I am devoting a significant majority of my budget in the district,” Congressman-elect Dan Goldman said. “Haley Scott, John Blasco, Tevin Williams, and Simone Kanter represent the outstanding talent, experience and diversity of this District, and I am proud to have them on my team.”

Haley Scott is currently a Vice President for Campaigns and Creative Services at BerlinRosen, where she serves as a lead strategist and paid media consultant for campaigns across the country. She helped drive messaging strategy and media programs for several winning campaigns across New York, including for Dan Goldman’s primary and general elections, Rep. Pat Ryan’s history making special election and re-elect, and Senator Brian Kavanagh and Assemblymember Deborah Glick’s successful 2022 primaries. She served as Campaign Manager for State Senator Brad Hoylman’s Manhattan Borough President campaign, and has worked in senior roles in campaigns and organizations for multiple cycles – including serving as the Political Chief of Staff at the DCCC in 2020 and as the Communications Director at Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. She lives in Park Slope and will serve as Dan Goldman’s Chief of Staff.

John Blasco is a Queer Puerto Rican Activist and Organizer living in Brooklyn who currently serves as Assembly Member Harvey Epstein’s Chief of Staff and will be joining Goldman’s office as his District Director. John grew up in public housing on the Lower East Side and fought for better living conditions for the residents who live there. He started his career as a community organizer for FIERCE, a youth-led organization for queer and trans youth of color. John took on the role of the Lead Organizer for campaigns around police accountability, access to public space, and pushing the city to support a 24-hour LGBTQ drop-in center for runaway and homeless youth. After 7 years, John left FIERCE to work for former Councilwoman Rosie Mendez as her communications director and scheduler, before joining Councilwoman Carlina Rivera’s office as Director of Community Organizing and Participatory Budgeting. John ended his time at the City Council working for Speaker Corey Johnson in the community engagement division as the LGBTQ+ liaison. Blasco was District Leader for the 74th Assembly District from 2019 to the end of 2021. He is a member of CoDA - a local political organization in the Lower East Side, a founding member of the Loisaida Open Streets Community Coalition, and previously served as a member of Equality New York and Stonewall Democrats. He is a current member of the Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn.

Tevin Williams will be joining Goldman’s district office as Director of Community and External Affairs. Williams took a leave of absence from his current role as a Community Liaison and Legislative Aide in State Senator Brad Holyman’s office to serve as Congressman-elect Goldman’s Political Director on the campaign. Williams is the Board President of Team New York Aquatics, the country’s largest masters swimming team, and one of the world’s largest LGBTQ+ swimming teams. He previously worked in non-profit management with the YMCA, and has professional work experience in higher education and student affairs at both Valdosta State University and Stetson University. He is the former Chief of Operations and current member of New Kings Democrats and is the author of Driven to Do: Inspiring Stories of Minority Millennials and the Future of America.

Simone Kanter is Congressman-elect Dan Goldman’s incoming Press Secretary after having served on Goldman’s campaign as Communications Director. Before joining the campaign, Kanter was a Deputy Press Secretary in the New York State Executive Chamber for Governor Kathy Hochul. He has worked on campaigns across the country to elect Democrats up and down the ticket, from City Council, to City Commissioner, to Governor, to President of the United States. Kanter is a native of Park Slope, Brooklyn.
