DAN GOLDMAN, CANDIDATE FOR CONGRESS IN NY-10 AND LEAD COUNSEL FOR TRUMP’S FIRST IMPEACHMENT, ANNOUNCES DETAILS OF COMMITMENT TO ELIMINATING CONFLICTS OF INTEREST FOR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS
New York, NY - Dan Goldman, candidate for Congress in NY-10 and lead counsel for Donald Trump’s first impeachment, today announced details of his commitment to eliminating conflicts of interest for members of Congress.
“I have a deep appreciation for the opportunities my inheritance has provided me - it’s why I have devoted my professional career to public service.” Dan Goldman said. “As a lawyer, my only client has been the American public. I am committed to ensuring that every American has the opportunity to pursue the American dream, as my family did. Every American should have full confidence that our elected representatives are operating solely on behalf of the American people, without any appearance of a conflict of interest. That is why elected officials should be prohibited from trading stocks while holding office.”
Dan supports the Ban Congressional Stock Trading Act. This bill requires each member of Congress to divest or place in a blind trust any investments owned by the member, the member’s spouse, and dependents.
Regardless of whether or not legislation banning stock trading passes, if elected, Dan will put his assets in a blind trust to avoid any conflicts of interest, as he did when he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York.
