DAN GOLDMAN, CANDIDATE FOR CONGRESS IN NY-10 AND LEAD COUNSEL FOR TRUMP’S FIRST IMPEACHMENT, ENDORSED BY STATE SENATOR BRAD HOLYMAN AND ASSEMBLYMEMBER-IN-WAITING GRACE LEE

New York, NY - Dan Goldman, candidate for Congress in NY-10 and lead counsel for Trump’s first impeachment, was today endorsed by two lower Manhattan leaders, State Senator Brad Hoylman and Assemblymember-in-waiting Grace Lee. The endorsements follow the New York Times Editorial Board endorsement and add to the rapidly growing coalition of elected officials backing Goldman’s candidacy.

"Dan Goldman will be an excellent representative for lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, and I’m proud to endorse his candidacy for the 10th district,” State Senator Brad Hoylman said. “Dan has a long track record of service to our community and country and, just as I am working to hold Donald Trump and his acolytes like Rudy Giuliani accountable here in New York State as the Chair of Senate Judiciary Committee, I know that Dan will be the powerful voice we need in Congress to stand up to them in Washington D.C."

"I am proud to endorse my friend Dan Goldman, a longtime Lower Manhattan resident and the former lead impeachment counsel for the impeachment investigation of then President Donald Trump, who held Trump accountable for the abuse of his office,” Assemblymember-in-Waiting Grace Lee said. “I know from my work as the New York Events Director for Swing Left in 2018 - when we helped flip the House of Representatives - that we can't just elect any Democrat, we have to elect a Congressmember who has the experience to fight the biggest threats to our democracy and fundamental rights. That leader is Dan Goldman, and I look forward to partnering with him to hold powerful interests accountable on behalf of the people."

“State Senator Brad Hoylman and Grace Lee are model public servants whose service to lower Manhattan has improved the lives of countless New Yorkers,” Dan Goldman said. “I look forward to working closely in partnership with them as we fight to enact a progressive vision of the future that addresses the most pressing issues we face as a city and as a nation.”

The endorsements follow closely on the heels of Assemblymembers Eddie Gibbs' and Simcha Eichenstein's endorsements.

Brad Hoylman is currently the State Senator for the 27th State Senate District covering a significant portion of Manhattan including the neighborhoods of Greenwich Village, Chelsea, Hell's Kitchen, Columbus Circle, Times Square, the Upper West Side, the East Village, Midtown East, and the Lower East Side. Hoylman is also the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He is a champion of a wide range of issues, including housing, transportation, public education, LGBTQIA+ rights, environment and seniors. He has passed over sixty bills in the Senate, including the Child Victims Act, the TRUST Act, and GENDA. Hoylman was the lead sponsor of legislation to legalize gestational surrogacy for LGBTQ people and individuals struggling with infertility. Hoylman has also led initiatives to improve traffic safety by requiring the use of backseat seatbelts in taxis and reducing speed limits along the West Side Highway. A longtime grassroots activist, he previously served as a Democratic District Leader and three-term chair of Manhattan Community Board 2. Hoylman is a graduate of Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes scholar, and Harvard Law School. Before being elected to the Senate, he practiced law and was general counsel of the Partnership for New York City, the city’s leading business and civic organization. Hoylman and his husband David Sigal, a filmmaker, are the parents of two young daughters, Silvia and Lucy. The family are members of Congregation Beit Simchat Torah, the LGBTQIA+ synagogue.

Grace Lee is the Democratic nominee for the 65th Assembly District that encompasses Chinatown, the Financial District, Battery Park City, and the Lower East Side. A community organizer and small business owner, Lee has a proven record of getting things done for the community. Lee co-founded Children First, a parent-led coalition fighting for the safe clean-up of a toxic mercury site located in the South Street Seaport that puts thousands of children and residents at risk of exposure. By holding rallies, press conferences, and organizing folks to testify, Lee and her fellow parents slowed down the process and held the developer accountable to ensure our communities can breathe safe, clean air. Lee has also worked closely with deaf tenants who live in deplorable conditions on Forsyth Street. She helped them stand up to their building’s management and accompanied them to get their vaccines. Lee has also partnered with Vision Urbana to organize the largest Thanksgiving drive in Lower Manhattan, donating and delivering thousands of turkeys and chicken to families and seniors in NYCHA housing.

Dan Goldman and his wife, Corinne, live in lower Manhattan where they are raising their five children. In 2019, Dan Goldman served as lead counsel for the impeachment investigation of President Donald J. Trump for abusing his office for his personal interest regarding Ukraine. In that role, Goldman led depositions and questioned witnesses in public hearings, and testified before the House Judiciary Committee.

Prior to that, Goldman served for a decade as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York working with Preet Bharara. In that role, he held powerful actors accountable and made our city safer. He took on some of the office’s biggest and most consequential cases: prosecuting violent criminals and gun trafficking, mafia bosses and Russian organized crime, and landmark insider trading and major corporate fraud cases. In law school, Goldman contributed to Michelle Alexander’s seminal book, The New Jim Crow, which addressed the inequalities in our criminal justice system.

The Democratic Primary in New York’s 10th congressional district is on Tuesday, August 23.
