DAN GOLDMAN, DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE FOR CONGRESS IN NY-10, ENDORSED BY NEW YORK CITY DISTRICT COUNCIL OF CARPENTERS

New York, NY - Dan Goldman, Democratic nominee for Congress in NY-10, was today endorsed by the New York City and Vicinity District Council of Carpenters. The New York City and Vicinity District Council of Carpenters is the largest trade union in New York City, representing over 20,000 union members in the New York metropolitan area.

Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the New York City District Council of Carpenters Joseph Geiger said, “Dan Goldman won his primary, and earned the support of the 20,000 members of the New York City & Vicinity District Council, the same way he’ll serve as the next representative in Congress: with integrity and a strong vision for how to protect our democracy, grow the middle class and not just defend organized labor, but make it easier for every American to join a union. Over the course of a long and distinguished career in public service Dan has proven that he will be the special interests worst nightmare, and a fearless champion for those who have been left behind and ignored by politicians for years. We could not be prouder to endorse his campaign.”

“The New York City District Council of Carpenters is a powerful voice for the rights of working families in New York and I am incredibly honored to receive their endorsement,” Dan Goldman said. “The working men and women of the labor community are the backbone of our city, and I look forward to partnering with the District Council of Carpenters as we work to uplift the labor community by fighting for workers' rights, fair wages, and safe working conditions.”

About the New York City and Vicinity District Council of Carpenters

The New York City District and Vicinity District Council of Carpenters is a representative body of nine Locals and over 20,000 union members. The District Council functions as the voice for thousands of New York City’s most dedicated and skilled Carpenters, Millwrights, Dockbuilders, Timbermen, Cabinetmakers, Floorcoverers and Industrial Workers.

The New York City District Council of Carpenters is a fully democratic body, its leadership elected by members of the union. Every Local is represented in every decision made at the District Council and has a voice in contract negotiations, policy decisions and the overall direction of the union. Above all else, the District Council is dedicated to guaranteeing that every worker in our represented trades has rights in the workplace, a fair wage, a healthy family and hope for the future. The construction industry is prone to exploitative and dangerous conditions in the workplace; the union’s efforts are to eliminate those tendencies through strong advocacy and direct action.

About Dan Goldman
