New York, NY – Dan Goldman, Democratic nominee for Congress in NY-10, was today endorsed by the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). The RWDSU represents 100,000 workers across a wide range of industries, including retail, food processing, distribution, warehousing, nursing homes, non-profit and food service.

“Dan Goldman has the skills and experience we need in Congress right now to deliver results for working families,” President of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union Stuart Appelbaum said. “I know that Dan will be a strong ally to labor and a champion for our shared progressive priorities. The RWDSU is proud to endorse Dan Goldman for Congress in the 10th District.”

“The RWDSU has been a powerful champion for progressive action on behalf of a diverse set of workers and I am proud to have earned their endorsement,” Dan Goldman said. “I will always be a strong advocate for our working families, and I look forward to working with the RWDSU to fight for their right to be treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.”

Representing 100,000 workers across various industries, RWDSU fights for progressive action on behalf of workers, while continuing to negotiate strong contracts and bring a union voice to working people. The roots of the RWDSU were laid down in the 1930s when a group of local unions including retail clerks and warehouse workers in New York City banded together. The RWDSU was chartered by the Congress of Industrial Organizations in 1937.

RWDSU has broken new ground legislatively, stood up to corporate greed on the picket lines, and rose to the challenge of the worst public health crisis in a century. RWDSU remains committed to meeting the challenges of the 21st century head on by building upon the solidarity that created the labor movement and employing new strategies which recognize the importance of building coalitions with community groups and communities of faith. The RWDSU is affiliated with the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW).

About Dan Goldman

Dan Goldman and his wife, Corinne, live in lower Manhattan where they are raising their five children. In 2019, Dan Goldman served as lead counsel for the impeachment investigation of President Donald J. Trump for abusing his office for his personal interest regarding Ukraine. In that role, Goldman led depositions and questioned witnesses in public hearings, and testified before the House Judiciary Committee.

Prior to that, Goldman served for a decade as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York working with Preet Bharara. In that role, he held powerful actors accountable and made our city safer. He took on some of the office’s biggest and most consequential cases: prosecuting violent criminals and gun trafficking, mafia bosses and Russian organized crime, and landmark insider trading and major corporate fraud cases. In law school, Goldman contributed to Michelle Alexander’s seminal book, The New Jim Crow, which addressed the inequalities in our criminal justice system.
