Meet Dan

Congressman Dan Goldman is a former federal prosecutor and lifelong advocate for working families who proudly represents New York’s 10th Congressional District. He’s running for re-election to get justice for our most vulnerable New Yorkers, tackle corruption and wealth inequality, and defend our democracy.

Dan has spent his entire career as a public servant, inspired by the civil rights work of his idol Jack Greenberg, the longtime head of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and further developed as a contributor to Michelle Alexander’s book The New Jim Crow, the seminal work on inequalities in the criminal justice system. This passion for equal justice motivated him to become an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York, where he spent over a decade prosecuting organized crime, corporate fraud, and corruption.

In 2019, Dan used his prosecutorial skills and experience to successfully lead the Ukraine impeachment investigation of Donald Trump, which exposed Trump’s corrupt efforts to use the power of the presidency to extort Ukraine for personal political gain. That experience motivated Dan to run for Congress in 2022 to continue to stand up to Trump and House Republicans and use the same creative skillset to make consequential change for working families in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Since joining Congress in 2022, Dan has emerged as one of the most effective progressive fighters in Washington. Recognizing that rising wealth inequality has created structural barriers for too many to access the American Dream, Dan believes in a bold agenda to make the wealthy pay their fair share, expand the social safety net, and level the playing field. That’s why he introduced the ROBINHOOD Act, which would ensure the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share in taxes and generate enough revenue to fund universal childcare nationwide with money still left over. Dan is an original co-sponsor of Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, and legislation supporting social security, organized labor, paid family leave, and affordable housing.

In Congress, Dan has been a national leader in standing up to Donald Trump and congressional Republicans. Dan played a critical role in submarining the Republicans’ sham impeachment inquiry into President Biden.  As Donald Trump has escalated his cruel and illegal immigration dragnet, Dan has led the fight against ICE by successfully filing a lawsuit gaining access to ICE detention facilities while also turning his district office into a rapid response triage center for detainees’ families, helping secure the release of at least 17 unlawfully detained neighbors.

Dan lives in Battery Park City with his wife, Corinne, and their five children. When he’s not working for New Yorkers, he’s spending time with his family and cheering on the Knicks and Liberty.
